Ayame Japanese Market

They had so many kinds of natto, I was so happy! I found everything I needed, and the owner was super nice and friendly. I drove over an hour to get here, but it was totally worth it!

me and my husband come here every week to get dinner/snacks! they have a great selection of nabe to choose from, as well as seasonings, spices, and frozen foods. the mochi and other snacks are delicious and there are so many flavors to try!! very good prices, i will not shop anywhere else for japanese goods.

Small market but they have a great selection. I am so glad I got to experience this place. Such a cool little shop. I love the cold coffee selection. I was looking for J-basket frozen Ramen. It looked like it may have been out of stock. They did have some other selections though so I was able to walk away happy.

This place is such a treasure I've never heard of. I was on the hunt for dumpling wrappers and went to three different asian/international stores looking, but was only finding egg roll/spring roll wrappers. Lo and behold, I happened upon this store, what a great place! Small but efficient operation. The woman who runs the shop is very courteous, tremendously helpful. I would definitely check this out for Asian/Japanese cuisine ingredients before looking elsewhere.

Five years ago we found Ayame Japanese Market. Upon entering, we instantly fell in love!!! It was JUST like being back in Japan! We have since visited many, many times over the years. And we will ALWAYS go here first before going to any other Asian store. The things we love about it are: •The prices! You might think that everything would be a little pricier being that it is an authentic Japanese store, but you'd be surprised. They even have a small reduced area where you can find products 20% cheaper. Sometimes less or more. That's my lucky spot! I've found many reduced price gems that I've incorporated into our food making. •It is neat nd clean! One thing i miss about Japan is how organized it is! It's just refreshing! •LOVE the atmosphere! •Their variety in products is vast! When we came back to the states in 2010, i searched many Asian markets for Japanese sesame dressing. Could not find it. We moved to Lexington, Kentucky in 2014 nd lo' nd behold, Ayame had the exact same bottle sitting on its shelf that i found back in Japan! I literally cried! They also have a little bit of everything else in there! It's like stepping into a smaller version of a Daiso! I always find something new, different, nd exciting when we shop. •The friendliness of the owner nd staff! Chef's kiss!! They are incredibly helpful nd non judgemental! They really make you feel welcomed nd relaxed! •As soon as you walk in, on your left is a shelf with leaflets, pamplets, fliers, even free stickers. It has all kinds of information for the Japanese community. I love that! In Japan, even though we were foreigners, my Japanese neighbors were so very understanding nd helpful to us. They made my family feel welcomed in a strange nd exciting land. I love that Ayame does the same for its Japanese nd Asian customers living here. That really helps nd it tells me that they truly care! Over the years after having returned home, we have been to several Asian markets all over the United States, nd none of them have ever come close to the authenticity of Japan as Ayame! It truly feels like im transported back when i go in there which makes me appreciate it even more!!!

Cute little store! Lots of Japanese goods that you won’t find in your typical Asian market. Staff were super friendly.
